After many rumors, the new nose of the F2008 was finally unveiled today during testing at the Barcelona circuit.<\/p>\n
Felipe Massa tested it with slick tires, and the car was therefore equipped with a split nose.<\/p>\n
This hole in the nose is intended to use the air that accumulates between the front wing and the underside of the nose.<\/p>\n
This will improve the car’s balance by directing a better airflow to the rear wing.<\/p>\n
What Ferrari did is create a channel from the top of the nose, an area heavily subjected to air pressures.<\/p>\n
As for the air outlets, they are divided into two. The reason probably comes from the fact that the outlet of these flows merges with the flows passing over the car.<\/p>\n
This setup will give the Scuderia the opportunity to compare the effects of this new nose to the effects currently experienced on the F2008.<\/p>\n
If the tests go well, Ferrari should use this new nose at the Spanish Grand Prix in two weeks.<\/p>\n
