Like the other teams, the newcomer Suzuki ventures into the unknown this weekend for the first round of the World Rally Championship in the Kingdom of Jordan.<\/p>\n
Suzuki hopes that the situation will turn in its favor because it’s the first time that all teams arrive with the same level of inexperience. With its drivers Toni Gardemeister and P-G Andersson, Suzuki believes it has the best combination of youth and experience.<\/p>\n
The team experienced a difficult start to the season marked by a series of technical problems with the new SX4 WRC. But since Argentina, the team has made numerous modifications: the engine control system has been modified to improve reliability and the skid plate has been reinforced. To prevent possible overheating during summer rallies, the cooling system has been improved, as well as the shock absorbers, to enhance the car’s overall handling.<\/p>\n
The team scored points in three of the last four rallies. Suzuki hopes to continue at this pace in the heat and dust of the Jordan Rally. Toni Gardemeister and P-G Andersson will start their fifth rally with the Suzuki SX4 WRC, but Jordan will be a completely new experience for them.<\/p>\n
\u00ab It’s difficult to know what to expect \u00bb, explains Gardemeister, 33 years old. \u00ab In fact, it’s strange to head to an unknown place. I don’t remember my last new rally! I believe Jordan will be quite different from the other events. It will definitely be an advantage as the chances will be the same for everyone. If we hadn’t encountered any problems, we had the potential to finish in the top 6 of all the rallies. We have to keep working hard. The results will come. \u00bb<\/p>\n
P-G Andersson shares the same point of view: \u00ab It will be a discovery for us, as for others. I will maintain the same tactic. I will attack without taking too many risks and see where that places us. I don’t know what developments have been made to the car but I believe we must focus on reliability to make it to the finish. \u00bb<\/p>\n
