At the end of the fourth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, notably marked by Kovalainen’s terrible accident, R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen strengthens his lead. And for good reason, he now holds 29 points.[Standings]<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Behind, the battle remains fierce as the runner-up is none other than Lewis Hamilton, followed by the Pole Kubica in 3rd and Felipe Massa in 4th. The three drivers are separated by only one point (20 \u2013 19 \u2013 18).<\/p>\n

Heidfeld is now 5th and Kovalainen 6th. The German and the Finn are falling behind as they do not score any points in Spain.<\/p>\n

From the 7th place onward, everything remains extremely open in this second group of drivers. Trulli for Toyota is the leader, followed by Webber in 8th, Rosberg in 9th, Alonso in 10th, and Nakajima in 11th. These five drivers have 9, 8, 7, 6, and 5 points, respectively.<\/p>\n

Button enters the ranking in 12th place thanks to his 6th place on the Circuit de Catalunya, he has 3 points. The Frenchman S\u00e9bastien Bourdais brings up the rear and still has his 2 points.<\/p>\n

In the constructors’ standings, Scuderia Ferrari, thanks to this one-two finish, takes the lead and now accumulates 47 points. BMW in 2nd place keeps McLaren-Mercedes in 3rd, just 1 point behind. The teams have 35 and 34 points respectively.<\/p>\n

Williams and Toyota remain 4th and 5th. As for Red Bull, after Webber’s very impressive performance at the GP, they take 6th place from Renault, which is now 7th. The point gaps remain small. Honda moves into 8th place in this ranking with the first 3 points of the 2008 season and is ahead of Toro Rosso.<\/p>\n
