After two days of testing dedicated to preparing for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, Renault was on track at Le Castellet to prepare for the North American race, which will take place in Montreal in a few weeks. However, the French team’s program suffered due to the day’s weather conditions, as rain appeared mid-morning, depriving Nelson Piquet of several hours of running.<\/p>\n
It was on the Paul Ricard track in the 1E-V2-SC-Short configuration, 5.178km long, that Nelson Piquet was supposed to evaluate the behavior of the R28 with low downforce levels in preparation for the Canadian event. However, precarious track conditions forced the team to revise their program, and the young Brazilian stayed in the pit for most of the day, waiting for the track conditions to improve.<\/p>\n
Despite covering few kilometers today, the assessment of these three days of testing remains positive with most of the development program completed. The team is therefore preparing to approach the Monaco Grand Prix next week confidently and hopes to capitalize on its recent progress recorded since the Spanish Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

\u00ab A bit frustrating today because we didn’t do much running. It was pointless for us to run on a wet track today. Fortunately, we made good progress yesterday with many laps covered and were able to cover the main points of our development program as we knew it might rain afterward. \u00ab There wasn’t much to learn today given the track conditions, but Nelson still managed to do a few runs in the dry this morning. He was relatively satisfied with the car, and everything was working properly. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab For most of the day, the track was too wet, and it wasn’t safe to race. When the track conditions became reasonable again, we were able to do some setup testing and Nelson was able to try driving in the rain. \u00bb<\/p>\n
