Ecclestone said he was surprised by such words.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab I sincerely hope this is not a declaration of war because if it is, we will have to defend ourselves, \u00bb Ecclestone told the Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab I don&#8217;t think Max meant that in the letter. I don&#8217;t want to go to war with Max, and I hope he doesn&#8217;t want to do that with me. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>I am sorry if the press has relayed information he doesn&#8217;t like, but we have no influence on the FIA.<\/p>\n<p>Ecclestone has decided, in turn, to write a letter to the various national clubs to clarify things.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab We have decided to get in touch with all the clubs Max wrote to, with a response to the questions raised in his letter, \u00bb continued Ecclestone.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab I think that the FIA General Assembly on June 3 is scheduled for one reason only: To decide whether or not Max is the right person to be president. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Mosley will be present this weekend in Monaco for the Grand Prix.
