Adrian Sutil was described as the hero of the Monaco Grand Prix by his director, Colin Kolles, as he was on the verge of achieving the team’s best performance in the F1 championship.<\/p>\n
Sutil was in 4th place before Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen came and collided with him a few laps before the end of the race. Retirement was inevitable…<\/p>\n
Despite tears and immense grief, Kolles admits that his driver is a rising star in his field.<\/p>\n
\u00ab After the race, he was in tears, not just him but many other people. I told him: ‘You are the hero of the race.’ That’s my opinion and I believe people know it, \u00bb said Kolles.<\/p>\n
This performance in Monaco for Sutil came at the best time as doubts had been raised following his difficult start to the season.<\/p>\n
However, Kolles insists on the fact that the team has never been concerned about its poor performances in the first races.<\/p>\n
\u00ab He has always had the support of the team and mine personally, there is no uncertainty. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab Monaco is his favorite circuit, if the conditions were with us, something special could happen. And we were very, very close to that something special! \u00bb He continued.<\/p>\n
When asked if he thought that Monaco’s performance could serve as a springboard for improved results in the future, Kolles stated: \u00ab Oh yes, of course. Obviously, we need to work on a better car. We cannot hope for every race to be wet. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab We still have Canada, which could potentially be a great race, we have Spa, and we have Fuji. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Kolles also refused to criticize R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen for losing control of his car.<\/p>\n
