The president of the FIA, Max Mosley, stated that the case against the ‘News of the World’, from which he emerged victorious, will have the effect of reducing the scope of action of the media.<\/p>\n

The decision of the High Court recognized that the tabloid was wrong to publish this story about Mosley’s involvement in an orgy. Many observers believe that this will prevent newspapers from revealing details of public figures’ private lives in the future.<\/p>\n

But the Briton disagrees with this theory and believes that the press is right to publish articles when there is a genuine public interest.<\/p>\n

\u00ab It’s completely absurd, \u00bb stated Mosley to the Sunday Telegraph regarding the claims made that announce the end of press freedom.<\/p>\n

\u00ab What emerges from the ruling is that it is perfectly correct to reveal details of someone’s private life if there is a genuine reason to do so. On the other hand, the situation is shocking when there is publication for entertainment shows or because an editor decides to ruin someone’s life in the interest of selling more newspapers. \u00bb<\/p>\n

He added: \u00ab However, judicial authorities have decided that revelations about someone’s sex life are no longer tolerated. There must be a genuine public interest reason to do so. \u00bb<\/p>\n
