In two races (China and Brazil), the 2008 season will end, but at the moment, it is still very difficult to designate a world champion. <b><a href=\"\/p-f1_classements.html\" target=\"_blank\">[Standings]<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Hamilton remains the best positioned to win the championship even if he scores no points in Japan and Massa (2nd) collects two points. The gap narrows to 5 points between the Briton and the Brazilian with 84 and 79 points respectively. It&#8217;s Kubica on BMW-Sauber who makes the best move. His 2nd place at Mount Fuji allows him to close within 7 points of Massa (72 points). Heidfeld and Kovalainen maintain their 5th and 6th places just behind R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen, who finally scores points. His total is 63 points.<\/p>\n<p>With 20 points in two races, Alonso now has 48 points and is closing in on the 6th place held by Kovalainen (51 points). Trulli scores more points than Vettel in the Japanese race. The Italian thus regains the 8th position but shares it with the German. They both have 30 points.<\/p>\n<p>Glock&#8217;s counter remains at 20 units while Webber&#8217;s moves to 21 with a point gained in Japan. The latter is 10th while Glock slips to 11th position. By scoring 5 points, Piquet displaces Rosberg from 12th place. The Renault driver now has a lead over the German (18 against 17). No change at the bottom of the standings either. Barrichello still 14th, Nakajima 15th, Coulthard 16th, Bourdais 17th, and Button 18th.<\/p>\n<p>In the constructor&#8217;s standings, the suspense is even more intense as McLaren-Mercedes scores no points on Japanese soil. Ferrari moves ahead with 142 points compared to 135 for the Woking team. BMW-Sauber scores as many points as the Scuderia and gets even closer to the leading duo with 128 points. The battle will be epic in a week in China.<\/p>\n<p>Behind, Renault secures its 4th place and is the team that scores the most points today (15). Its total is at 66 points, 16 more than Toyota in 5th position. Toro Rosso also consolidates its 6th place with 3 new points. Red Bull and Williams are now separated by 3 points (29 against 26) in the 7th and 8th positions respectively.
