The officials of Donington Park circuit wish to partly stop air traffic from East Midlands Airport during the British Grand Prix in 2010.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We are working with the airport to minimize traffic, \u00bb said Donington director, Simon Gillett to the Loughborough Echo.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We do not want to close it completely, but we are thinking about the safety of the race. \u00bb<\/p>\n
The idea is that the airport’s peak hours be reserved exclusively for the use of Formula 1 and our circuit. We want to charter a certain number of planes anyway.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We want to move closer to cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Manchester, London, or even countries like France, Belgium, Germany, and all of Europe. \u00bb<\/p>\n
However, an airport spokesperson stated that the complete closure of the airport had not been discussed.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We are in talks with the Donington Park circuit. These discussions are ongoing, but the closure of the airport has not been raised during these meetings. \u00bb<\/p>\n
