The legal action regarding the 2007 espionage case with McLaren as the main player is about to conclude thanks to the latest developments in Italy.<\/p>\n
The accusations against former McLaren chief designer Mike Coughlan, and senior engineers Paddy Lowe, Jonathan Neale, and Rob Taylor have now been dropped.<\/p>\n
In exchange for not contesting the copyright infringement accusations concerning Ferrari data, the four men agreed to pay sums of money to the Italian authorities. Coughlan will have to pay 180,000 euros, while the other three men will each pay 150,000 euros.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for McLaren stated: \u00ab This legal formalization will put an end to the disagreements between McLaren and Ferrari. \u00bb<\/p>\n
The 450,000 euros combined from Lowe, Neale, and Taylor will be paid by McLaren, whereas Coughlan will have to pay his fine alone.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Mike Coughlan no longer works for McLaren. That being the case, we believe it would be inappropriate to make any observations on his behalf, \u00bb added the spokesperson for the British team.<\/p>\n
Actions against McLaren personnel have been filed, and Ron Dennis, the team director, along with Martin Whitmarsh, the CEO, expect all charges to be addressed at a hearing with preliminary investigations judge Barbara Malvasi scheduled for next February.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson for McLaren announced that relations with Scuderia have significantly evolved since the incident. The legal process is coming to an end with satisfactory conclusions for all stakeholders. For the Woking team, the focus is now on working with Ferrari, the FIA, and Formula 1 teams through FOTA to improve the sport.<\/p>\n
