This week, Fernando Alonso participated in a full training session with the team that won the last Tour de France. He reunited with his fellow Spaniard Carlos Sastre, winner of the event in 2008.<\/p>\n
In parallel with his first tests this week at the wheel of the new R29, Alonso covered 110 kilometers, with an average speed of 37 km\/h. Sastre’s current team, CSC – Saxo Bank, is training in the south of Portugal near the Algarve circuit.<\/p>\n
The 2005 and 2006 world champion followed a rigorous training program during the off-season to lose weight. To date, he has lost four kilos.<\/p>\n
\u00ab If his training had been more advanced, he could have reached a very good level in cycling, \u00bb commented Joaquin Novoa, for the Spanish newspaper AS, who is part of the CSC team.<\/p>\n
