The president of the FIA, Max Mosley, has criticized the current state of Formula 1, arguing that the sport has a culture of waste, so costs must be rectified to ensure the future of Formula 1.<\/p>\n
\u00ab The efforts for success have exceeded all kinds of financial discipline. Formula 1 is becoming more and more ridiculous, \u00bb explained Mosley to the German newspaper Spiegel<\/i>.<\/p>\n
He warned the teams that car manufacturers could find themselves in the same position as Honda and its withdrawal from Formula 1 if the increase in operating costs is not challenged in the immediate future.<\/p>\n
He continued: \u00ab Maybe we (the FIA members) could reverse the trend by proposing free technical development while imposing budget limits. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Mosley also warned that with Daimler’s shares at their lowest and Renault’s just above ten euros, job cuts in major teams are increasingly possible.<\/p>\n
