This engine could appear as early as the 2013 F1 season and would be used in several championships ranging from Formula 1 to the WRC (World Rally Championship).<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab We are currently studying a global engine for 2013, \u00bb said Mosley at a press conference during the Rally Portugal last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab That is to say, an engine that would be adaptable to several types of cars. It&#8217;s too early to say more, but we are doing it in consultation with the manufacturers. There is no question of doing anything between now and 2013 because that wouldn&#8217;t leave enough time. What we would like to do is have an engine in F1, for example, where the basic engine would not be subject to development. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>According to Mosley, the FIA would like operating costs to be reduced to a minimum. The engine itself must introduce new features, such as the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), which has been in development for a few months.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton continued: \u00ab Our fundamental goal is for the money spent on research and development in motorsport to be relevant and useful to the automotive industry, rather than in a highly specialized field that has no relevance. We are trying to find a way to combine this system for all categories of motorsport.
