BMW-Sauber is one of the teams that came out the best during the last Grand Prix in Malaysia, as Nick Heidfeld stepped onto the second spot of the podium. Currently, the German team is in third place in the constructors’ standings, tied on points with Renault.<\/p>\n
Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld are, of course, ready to take on this new challenge. Admittedly, they will be driving on a circuit they know, but the race is taking place for the first time in April, whereas until now, it was one of the October events. A difference that will directly affect the setup of the cars since the weather conditions will be different.<\/p>\n
Robert Kubica – Race Driver<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00ab This is the first time we are coming to Shanghai at this time of the year with a strong chance of rain. This can have a major impact on the entire weekend. The circuit is very challenging with long straights and sharp braking. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab There is one of the longest straights among the circuits on the calendar. So far, Shanghai has never worked well for me, but I hope that will change this year. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Nick Heidfeld – Racing Driver<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00ab This year, the race is arriving much earlier than expected, so we should probably anticipate much lower temperatures. This will make a difference, particularly for the tires. \u00bb<\/p>\n
We have had some good races in the past in Shanghai and I hope that will be the case in 2009. The first turn is the main attraction of the circuit. You are at the end of the straight and you have to shift to second gear to approach this turn.<\/p>\n
