If you plan on watching the Japanese Grand Prix next weekend, you will be somewhat surprised when the drivers approach the second turn of the Suzuka circuit. Instead of the usual red and white, the rumble strips will indeed be repainted in yellow and black at that spot.<\/p>\n
To support his Buzzin’ Corner campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the threats to biodiversity, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has decided to have the kerbs of turn 2 repainted in the colors of bees. Furthermore, a dozen beehives will be installed inside the same turn. The young retiree invites all drivers and their teams to inaugurate this new area dedicated to biodiversity on Thursday, on the eve of the first practice sessions on the Japanese circuit.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We are launching a new project called “Buzzin’ Corner,” explains the German pilot. \u00ab We will be present at turn 2 of Suzuka, my favorite circuit, where the curb of this turn will be painted in yellow and black. The reason for this is that we want to raise awareness of the dangers threatening biodiversity around the world.<\/p>\n
Vettel indicates that he himself participated in the design and construction of the beehives.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We use the bee as an ambassador and hopefully it will help us convey this very powerful message with these colors on the vibrators and these hives whose roofs are also painted in yellow and black. Their constructions have been keeping us quite busy in recent days and weeks.<\/p>\n
The former BMW-Sauber, Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Aston Martin driver is also thrilled to be back at Suzuka and wishes to promote his project on other circuits.<\/p>\n

I hope that we are only at the beginning of this initiative and project that will bring even more yellow and black to circuits around the world, as well as more habitat and space for insects.
