GP2 teams, a category below F1, are therefore showing a particular interest. This is the case today with Racing Engineering, owned by Spanish businessman Alfonso de Orleans. He is keen to enter the premier category of motorsport in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Racing Engineering won the title in GP2 last season with Giorgio Pantano. The Spanish team, which is based near Jerez, is eager to enter Formula 1 in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab We do not think that most teams are ready for the 2010 season; we are aiming for 2011. I hope there will be a slot for us at that time. There are interesting projects, and we are looking for the best alternative for our team. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Only teams like Lola and Prodrive could be on the grid in 2010. I think the others are struggling to manage operations. Some of these teams could bring GP2 teams into F1, but there is a lot of work to do to show a semblance of performance, \u00bb said Alfonso de Orleans.<\/p>\n<p>Racing Engineering could also lose its place in the sport if the grid already has 13 teams in 2010: \u00ab We will see. But even if there&#8217;s a spot on the grid next year, all the teams will be there for the following season.
