Toyota must bounce back after the failure at the Spanish Grand Prix. It has allowed Red Bull and its drivers to soar in the championships while the Japanese team hasn’t moved! This weekend in Monaco, the TF109 will see a few updates as it does for every event.<\/p>\n
The two drivers, Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock, are very familiar with the complexity of the Monaco track and are preparing psychologically.<\/p>\n
Jarno Trulli – Racing Driver<\/b><\/p>\n
Monaco is one of my favorite Formula 1 circuits, it’s challenging and the driver can really make a difference. It’s always special to go to Monaco because the atmosphere is different from all the other races. The track is unique. I know the average speed is low but when you are behind the wheel, it feels very fast and very close to the barriers.<\/p>\n
\u00ab This means you have to be fully focused, otherwise a small mistake can put you into the wall. I love the challenge that Monaco represents, and I’m generally very strong, even if sometimes I’ve had a bit of bad luck. Our car has been competitive all year, but you can’t compare it to other circuits. Of course, the race in Spain is to be forgotten, but anyway, I prefer to look to the future. I am hopeful for a good result. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Timo Glock – Racing Driver<\/b><\/p>\n
Last year, Monaco was a difficult race for us because of the weather, but in general I really like street circuits, and this one in particular. I’ve had some good performances in GP2 at Monaco, and I know I have to be completely focused because it’s so easy to make a mistake and ruin your race. It will be important to qualify well, as always in Monaco, because overtaking during the race is practically impossible.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Unfortunately, the Spanish Grand Prix did not go as hoped due to problems on the first lap. It is very frustrating to miss out on points for the first time this season. It will be interesting to see how the car performs in Monaco as we will have less downforce but more grip. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Pascal Vasselon – Chassis General Manager:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00ab This year, the Monaco Grand Prix is quite unusual because we do not have a fully dedicated aerodynamic package for this race, unlike previous seasons. In the past, we made significant changes to the wings. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab But this year things are a bit different because the regulations have limited what we could do to generate support. We will make some updates, which we seek to do in most races.
