RML has put its Formula 1 aspirations on hold after choosing not to submit its application for the 2010 World Championship.<\/p>\n
The team known as Chevrolet has experienced several successes in sports car racing in the past. They were seriously considering entering F1 but chose not to participate due to recent uncertainties regarding the 2010 budget cap regulations.<\/p>\n
The team, which had planned to use Cosworth engines, issued a statement asserting that it continued to monitor the situation with a view to a possible entry into the sport.<\/p>\n
According to the statement: \u00ab The recent uncertainties regarding the details of the budget cap application and the participation of other teams or constructors have meant that we were not able to submit an entry before the May 29 deadline. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab Nevertheless, RML remains open to participating in Formula 1 in the near future and will closely monitor the situation’s evolution. In the meantime, we would like to thank the FIA and FOM for their efforts to ensure the future of this sport. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Despite its negative decision, RML believes that the regulations could have allowed its entry into F1 because, according to the team, it’s an attractive commercial proposition.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Over the past ten weeks, RML Group has evaluated the opportunity offered by the FIA to participate in the upcoming Formula 1 championships by preparing a membership application for 2010. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab Our analysis indicates that the technical regulations and financial regulations, as published by the FIA on April 30, are extremely well suited to our organization. This process has attracted many car manufacturers to collaborate once again with RML.<\/p>\n
