Since the beginning of the 2009 season, the FIA has made public the weight of the cars, including the fuel load on board, following the Saturday qualifying session.<\/p>\n

Here is the weight of each car with the fuel it will carry at the start of the German Grand Prix, sorted in ascending order. Additionally, the driver’s starting grid position in the race has been added to infer the outlines of the different strategies employed by the teams.<\/p>\n

The first observation is that the Brawn GP cars are the lightest; it seems that their tire temperature issue was partially compensated by a lighter load. In contrast, with more than 15 kg of fuel, Webber, the pole-sitter, seems to be on a promising strategy.<\/p>\n

But on the Nurburgring track, in the Eifel mountain range, strategies can quickly be thwarted by frequent unexpected changes in the local climate…<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
