The Japanese team Toyota was expecting a podium, or even a victory in Belgium. Unfortunately, Toyota will leave the Belgian Ardennes empty-handed. Jarno Trulli, who was well positioned on the starting grid, collided with another car, which forced him to pit and fall back to the rear positions. His teammate, who had a good start, suffered from a fuel pump problem, which severely dashed his hopes for points.<\/p>\n
After this disastrous Grand Prix, Toyota will be keen to score points at the Monza circuit. Increasingly persistent rumors are circulating about Toyota’s potential withdrawal. The entire team needs to reassess with 5 Grand Prix remaining in the championship.<\/p>\n
Timo Glock – 10th<\/b>:<\/p>\n
I got a pretty good start and was in 4th position when the safety car came out, so we had a real chance for points. But at my first stop, we had difficulties with the refueling pump, and that cost me time and positions. Obviously, there was an issue with the fuel machine, and we need to analyze what happened and avoid similar problems in the future. I did my best, and the car was quite fast, but it wasn’t enough.<\/p>\n
Jarno Trulli – Retirement<\/b>:<\/p>\n
\u00abI can’t express how disappointed I am with this race. I really expected a good result because we were in great shape after qualifying. But at the first corner, I was just behind Heidfeld and on the exit, I expected to accelerate faster than him. I’m not sure if he had a problem, but I slightly touched him and broke my front wing. It vibrated so much that I had no choice but to go for a pit stop. I couldn’t do anything after all that. In the end, the team saw an issue with brake wear, and they decided it was better to stop.\u00bb<\/p>\n
Tadashi Yamashina – Team Principal<\/b>:<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, we were not able to make the most of the car today, despite our good position on the starting grid. I am sorry for our supporters as everyone expected a much better result. Jarno’s race was quickly ruined, and Timo had a problem with the refueling machine. So, it was a very frustrating day for us, especially since the car was competitive and we are significantly improving in qualifying.
