Ross Brawn and his team must be on edge. After a new double victory two weeks ago in Italy, Brawn GP is now the undisputed leader to win both titles this season. They simply need to avoid mistakes and score points regularly. The fight for the driver’s title seems more uncertain between the two teammates, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. As of today, five drivers can still claim the title, but if the two drivers regularly score points in the last four races, then the title will go to them. But to whom?<\/p>\n
The Singapore Grand Prix may be an opportunity to see things more clearly as the race will be held at night! Without a doubt, the BGP001s have the ability to dominate the event. We’ll see from the first practice sessions on Friday…<\/p>\n
Jenson Button – Racing driver<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00ab Last year, the Singapore Grand Prix was an incredible experience and it was truly one of the highlights of the year. Driving under artificial lighting was a lot of fun and the visibility was very good even though some corners like 1 and 5 were a bit dark, which made it difficult to judge braking distances. The Marina Bay Street Circuit is quite challenging and it’s not usually my preferred type, but I enjoyed driving there last year. Like last year, we will stay on a European lifestyle for the weekend, which means staying awake all night and sleeping most of the day so that our bodies remain alert for the early evening. I spent some time at the factory last week testing the layout on our simulator. I can’t wait to get to Singapore. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Rubens Barrichello – Race Car Driver<\/b><\/p>\n
The first Formula 1 night race in Singapore was very exciting last year, and I am really looking forward to returning this week. It’s always good to have new racing challenges under artificial lights. I really enjoyed this street circuit among the public roads, bumps, and obstacles of this famous city. It’s very narrow in places, and you can feel quite enclosed, especially with the spotlights shining down. It’s a very slow track, and you need a high level of downforce for the car’s aerodynamic setup. With so many turns, you need to keep your concentration at its highest. I’ve had quite a bit of pleasure over the past two months with two victories. We must maintain this momentum over the last four races of the season.<\/p>\n
Ross Brawn – Team Principal:<\/b><\/p>\n
The first night race in Singapore last year was a fantastic event that was greatly enjoyed by the drivers, teams, and fans. The spectacle was grand under the spotlights. In the end, it was a weekend that Formula 1 and the Singapore Grand Prix organizers can be proud of. It is a circuit that everyone at Brawn GP is eager to return to. The team and our drivers performed well at Monza to achieve a one-two finish. We have an aerodynamic setup that seems to work on the BGP 001 for this weekend, which should bring another step forward for the final races of the season. The Marina Bay Street circuit is winding, very narrow in many places with numerous corners in the first and second sectors.
