Since 2007 and the arrival of the Dutch sponsor ING, Renault had found a very distinctive color scheme. Orange, yellow, white, and blue were mixed on the cars, accessories, clothing, and even the Renault F1 team’s truck, causing much ink to be spilled. This particular style, which cannot leave anyone indifferent, was changed this week with the team’s arrival in Japan. The reason is simple: ING is no longer a sponsor of Renault.<\/p>\n
Since the announcement of the FIA verdict on the Piquet Crashgate affair at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, where Renault was handed a two-year suspended ban, two sponsors have decided to terminate their contracts with the French team. The bank ING, which was also the main sponsor, no longer has a place in the Renault F1 universe. The logo was thus changed this week, leaving exclusively the text Renault F1 Team on a blue background. Logically, the team cannot completely change its graphic style in a week and must wait to have found and determined these sponsors for the next season. As a result, only a few modifications have been applied to the most visible items.<\/p>\n
The R29 single-seater almost entirely removes the orange, leaving only a small line separating the white from the yellow. On the clothing and suits, the change is even more pronounced. There’s only yellow and white left.<\/p>\n
Renault and the R29 therefore retain their fluorescent style, but the colors seem to blend better. The new colors will depend on the 2010 sponsors.
