\u00abWe are delighted that the Suzuka Circuit will now safeguard one of our most important national sporting events by hosting the Japanese Grand Prix for the next three years,\u00bb said Mr. Hiroshi Oshima, president of the race promoters Mobilityland Corporation, a subsidiary of Honda.<\/p>\n
The Suzuka circuit was masterfully designed by John Hugenholtz, who is also responsible for the layouts of Zandvoort (Netherlands), Zolder (Belgium), and Jarama (Spain). Suzuka hosted the Japanese Grand Prix for the first time in 1987 and remained on the F1 calendar until the race was moved to the Toyota-owned Fuji track in 2007 and 2008. This year, Fuji announced that it would not host the Grand Prix in 2010 for economic reasons.<\/p>\n
