Formula 1 teams will be able to be represented next year at the hearings of the FIA International Court of Appeal (International Court of Appeal \u2013 ICA). The current judges of the ICA will still hold the majority of the seats, but appeals can now be reviewed by what the FIA describes as ‘co-opted judges’.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the FIA: \u00ab From the start of the 2010 Formula 1 season, in agreement with the FIA and the teams, it was decided to introduce judges proposed by the F1 teams to give their opinion during hearings related to Formula 1. \u00bb<\/p>\n
These appeals will be heard by a jury composed of the current elected members of the ICA and ‘co-opted’ judges.<\/p>\n
The FIA stated that this initiative was partly made to increase confidence in the decisions rendered by the ICA: \u00ab The ICA seized this opportunity to add existing knowledge and expertise to broaden the functioning of the ICA and further enhance transparency and public trust in the functioning of the ICA. \u00bb<\/p>\n
