If the FIA and FOTA had authorized a third car for the teams in 2010, Michael Schumacher would have undoubtedly raced with Ferrari, according to Marc Gene.<\/p>\n
According to the Scuderia’s test driver, the German saw his passion revive this summer and left the Ferrari team only because he didn’t have the opportunity to race for the Italian brand. With the slightest opportunity, there would have been no reason for Schumi to change camps at 41 years old, after 14 years with the prancing horse.<\/p>\n
Without a doubt, it hurt us at Ferrari to see him in other colors, because he is part of our best history, the Spanish driver stated. I am convinced that if the regulations had allowed us to run a third car, Michael would have been with us next year.<\/p>\n
Luca di Montezemolo, director of Ferrari, was the only person pushing to introduce the idea of a third car for 2010. But the idea was dead before even being submitted to the FIA as most members of the FOTA, starting with Franck Williams, opposed this concept.<\/p>\n
Gene also thinks that Schumacher will be a serious competitor for Ferrari next year but believes that the Scuderia’s line-up will be up to the task.<\/p>\n
