The USF1 team was granted additional testing days for the 2010 season to aid in the preparations for its first campaign. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based team has already been authorized to conduct its initial pre-season testing activities in the United States, rather than being compelled to travel to Europe. Indeed, all winter testing takes place in Spain starting in February.<\/p>\n
However, as the small team continues to work on its 2010 car, it was rumored that it would not face additional straight-line testing restrictions that were recently agreed upon by the team directors. The 2010 Sporting Regulations limit the number of straight-line tests to six days. Some discussions even mentioned a reduction to just four days. These days can be considered equivalent to a wind tunnel session, which would then equate to four hours of operation.<\/p>\n
Despite this latest agreement, which still needs to be added to the regulations, the teams have agreed that USF1 will be allowed its six days. The team’s sporting director, Peter Windsor, stated to Autosport: \u00ab We have received a special dispensation to have six days of straight-line testing, rather than the four to which all other teams are limited. The FIA and the teams are thus showing us that we are welcome. \u00bb<\/p>\n
