At the conclusion of this first Grand Prix of the 2010 season from Bahrain in the Middle East, four teams have emerged and confirmed the predictions for this beginning of the year. Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull will compete for the Constructors’ Championship, and hence eight drivers will contest the individual title. During the first race of the season, these eight drivers finished at the top. The accolade goes to Ferrari, achieving a double with Alonso ahead of Massa. McLaren and Hamilton take the podium, while Vettel and Red Bull missed the victory and find themselves in 4th place. Next are the two Mercedes drivers with Rosberg ahead of Schumacher. Button (McLaren) and Webber (Red Bull) share the last two places of this top 8. Liuzzi for Force India and Barrichello for Williams also score points. Lotus drivers took the lead among the new teams since Chandhok and Senna for Hispania and Glock and di Grassi for Virgin retired. The same situation for the two Sauber drivers (de la Rosa and Kobayashi) and Petrov for Renault.<\/p>\n

In the driver standings, it is now the top ten who score points according to the following scheme: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1. Alonso therefore has 25 points, Massa has 18, Hamilton 15, Vettel 12, Rosberg 10, Schumacher 8, Button 6, Webber 4, Liuzzi 2, and Barrichello 1.<\/p>\n
In the constructors’ standings, Ferrari secures a one-two finish and now has 43 points, ahead of McLaren with 21, Mercedes with 18, and Red Bull with 16. The competition promises to be historic among these four teams. Force India and Williams also score points at the bottom of the standings.<\/p>\n
