The 26-year-old Argentine was announced as a USF1 driver in January, but barely a month later, he was negotiating for the reserve driver seat at HRT (formerly Campos) due to his growing doubts about the chances of starting the season with USF1.<\/p>\n<p>The manager of Lopez, Felipe McGough, lashed out at the director of the American team, Ken Anderson, following the team&#8217;s withdrawal at the beginning of March.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez himself now believes that he was misled by the American team: \u00ab It is difficult for me to say that we were wrong, \u00bb he said at a conference organized by the Automobile Club of Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab I believe we paid way too much attention to what people were telling us. When I arrived in Charlotte in February, I realized that everything they were saying was false. What is happening to us is unthinkable: in 60 years of Formula 1, never has a committed team withdrawn. They hid things from us. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Lopez is still confident about starting in Formula 1 and is now aiming for a test driver role. \u00ab My idea is to continue and not to hang my head. Everyone knows what happened. We will continue, even if at present we have no plans.
