Since the beginning of the season, the HRT team has been using gearboxes designed by Williams. This will continue in 2012 as an agreement has been reached between the two teams. The new agreement also includes the supply of the KERS designed by Williams to the Spanish team.<\/p>\n
Over the past two years, we have established a fruitful collaboration with Williams F1, and we are delighted to see them continue to play an important role in the development of our team. Besides the experience we have accumulated over these years together, they will not only provide us with their latest gearbox technology but we will also benefit from KERS for next year, which is a big step forward for our team, said Colin Kolles, the director of the HRT team, in a statement.<\/p>\n
These new elements have been included in the new single-seater, the F112, which has been in development for several months already at the Spanish team’s facilities under the supervision of Jacky Eeckelaert.<\/p>\n
To avoid any suspicion regarding the provision of a “customer car,” the Spanish team also specified in its statement that the agreement with Williams F1 strictly follows the terms of the Concorde Agreements, and both teams will participate independently in the Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship.<\/p>\n
On the Williams side, satisfaction is also present as this proves the value of the technological elements designed by the British team. Alex Burns, one of the officials at Williams, even suggested that the partnership, extended until the end of 2012, could continue beyond that.<\/p>\n
