After two years with the Lotus Renault team, Vitaly Petrov was not retained by the Enstone team. Romain Grosjean was preferred to race alongside Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen in 2012. Nevertheless, the Russian driver has not finished with Formula 1. He hopes to secure a third driver role if he cannot obtain a main seat.<\/p>\n
According to the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat<\/i>, his manager Oksana Kosachenko traveled to Hingham, to the headquarters of the Caterham F1 team last week. Petrov has often been mentioned as a candidate to replace Jarno Trulli even though the Italian driver has a contract.<\/p>\n
But according to the Finnish daily, the Caterham team should honor the contract of the Italian veteran, and Vitaly Petrov would become the team’s third driver, with the goal of being a regular driver in 2013.<\/p>\n
