Last year, several drivers campaigned for the use of DRS to be banned in the tunnel throughout the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, and they were successful. The decision was welcomed by the majority of the drivers.<\/p>\n

According to *Autosport*, the same decision is expected to be made this year by the FIA because this corner is very fast and there are few runoff areas at the exit. Additionally, Sergio P\u00e9rez’s accident last year during qualifying at the end of the tunnel without DRS was very severe and this reportedly motivated the FIA to once again prohibit the use of DRS in the tunnel over the three days of competition.<\/p>\n

Last year, Jenson Button praised the decision made by the FIA: \u00abIt was necessary. The tunnel is a very slippery place with much less grip than the rest of the track, and there are rubber marbles that go towards the rails and bounce back onto the racing line.\u00bb<\/p>\n

The DRS zone should remain the same as last year, allowing drivers to activate their movable wing on the start\/finish straight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
