My start wasn’t the best I’ve had this year, but I kept up with Webber and Ricciardo in the early laps. Unfortunately, we had an issue with the KERS early in the race, which obviously affected my pace for the rest. We opted for a two-stop strategy, so during the first stint, I preserved my tires until the pit stop. The stop went well and my pace was good, but then Vergne made what seemed to be a rookie mistake, hit me, and I had to pit to change the nose. From there, I just tried to finish the race, and with 5 or 6 laps to go, the tires gave out. Despite that, 13th and 14th is another decent result for the team. We had a very good weekend here and now, we’re looking forward to making further progress in the next race, so we’re heading off on a positive note.<\/p>\n

\u00ab I am really satisfied with the way today’s race went. I got a pretty good start and was right behind Heikki after the first corner: I was quite cautious in turn 1 as I didn’t want to make a mistake, and from there, it was all about managing the tires and following my engineer’s instructions. I want to thank the guys for the fantastic job they did during the pit stops, especially when I had to come in to change the nose towards the end of the race.<\/p>\n
Even though we were 10th at one point, I’m not sure the points were within our reach today, but it’s really encouraging to see how we’ve progressed here, and we know that will be even more the case at Silverstone, so we have reasons to fight and that’s great for the whole team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
