The tire choice for the two remaining Grand Prix before the now traditional summer break \u2013 Germany and Hungary \u2013 has been announced by Pirelli. The Medium P Zero White and Soft P Zero Yellow tires have been selected for both races.<\/p>\n

Hockenheim, which hosts the German Grand Prix this season, is one of three new circuits for Pirelli in this year’s championship, along with the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain and the Austin circuit in the United States. Simulations and Pirelli’s past experience at Hockenheim as a supplier for the GP3 Series indicate that the Soft and Medium tires form the best combination to meet the various demands of the German circuit, which features several fast sections as well as slower and more technical sequences.<\/p>\n

The Hungaroring, which we visited last year, is much narrower and more winding, with less grip. Ambient and track temperatures are normally very high, which also suits the White and Yellow P Zeros.<\/p>\n

The 2012 regulations stipulate that, under normal circumstances, each team receives six sets of the hardest compound and five sets of the softest compound for the race weekend, with these sets now being usable at any time from free practice onwards. Pirelli will also as usual offer the Cinturato Green intermediate tire for mixed wet conditions (four sets per driver) and the Cinturato Blue wet tire (three sets per driver) at each race.<\/p>\n
