The FIA thus issued a statement yesterday explaining that the problems encountered in Melbourne were still present in Sepang this weekend and that, as a result, it decided, like last weekend, to deactivate the telemetry system linking race control to the cars. According to Autosport, this could be due to the change of system supplier implemented this year.<\/p>\n
As in Melbourne, drivers will not have the yellow, red, and blue flag reminders on their steering wheel. They will have to manually activate the Safety Car mode when it enters the track, and race control, in the event of a yellow flag or poor weather conditions, will not be able to deactivate and then reactivate the DRS; it will be up to the drivers not to use it.<\/p>\n
