Earlier in the week, I said that I hoped to have a good weekend and that our new parts would bring us signs of improvement, and I would like to say that this is the best Friday we’ve had for many, many races. It’s encouraging, but we still have work to do, analyzing the data to try to improve further. But we are in a better position than during the last races; I am really happy because everyone at the factory has done a very good job over the past few weeks to prepare for this race as well as the upcoming ones. The tires? They seem fine for now.<\/p>\n

Overall, it’s been a pretty good day, and in the changing conditions of the morning, we were consistently in the top 3 or close, which is a good sign. Then, this afternoon, we were also good on a dry track. I’m sure a few teams like McLaren will find more speed tomorrow, but I think we can too. I expect a close duel with a reasonable chance of making it into the top 10 during qualifying and our long runs were also quite good. It’s always interesting to test new parts as well as adjustments, given that you have to adapt your driving to all that. The best thing today is that the team brought a lot of new parts and, even though they looked good in the wind tunnel, it’s always reassuring to see an improvement on the car on track where it really matters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
