<\/p>\nNico Rosberg delivered Mercedes’ first victory at the British Grand Prix since 1955.<\/p>\n
A number of failures of the left rear tire occurred during the race, affecting Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, as well as Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso), and Sergio P\u00e9rez (McLaren). Pirelli engineers will seriously investigate the causes of the failures before the German Grand Prix next weekend.<\/p>\n
Paul Hembery, Director of Pirelli Motorsport:<\/b> There have clearly been issues related to failures of the left rear tire, previously unseen. We are taking the situation very seriously and are currently investigating all the tires to determine the causes as quickly as possible, before the German Grand Prix. Currently, we cannot really say more until we have fully investigated and analyzed all these incidents. This represents an absolute priority. However, the responsibility of the new assembly process, introduced for this race, can be excluded for the failures seen today. It could be related to certain aspects of this circuit specifically affecting the latest version of our tires with the 2013 specifications, but at this stage, we do not wish to speculate, and we will gather evidence to discover what happened and take necessary measures, if required.<\/p>\n
