Paul di Resta’s Italian Grand Prix ended after a few hundred meters following contact with Romain Grosjean’s Lotus at the braking zone of the second chicane. The Scottish driver was surprised by the braking of the drivers in front of him and was unable to stop in time, thus hitting the Frenchman’s car.<\/p>\n
Following the impact, the front-left suspension of Di Resta’s VJM06 broke, ending his race, while Romain Grosjean was able to continue and finish in 8th place. The Force India driver was disappointed after the race: “I locked both my front wheels trying to stop the car and collided with Grosjean. Unfortunately, it was too late to avoid it.”<\/p>\n
But after the race, he had to go see the track stewards to explain the incident. Right after the collision, di Resta acknowledged his mistake on the radio, and the stewards recognized that he tried to avoid the collision. The stewards took this into account along with the fact that Grosjean was able to continue without trouble, but di Resta still received a reprimand.<\/p>\n
The driver tried to avoid the collision (when he saw the drivers in front of him braking earlier) by attempting to get between cars 8 [Grosjean] and 15 [Sutil], but in doing so hit car number 8, \u00bb explains the statement.<\/p>\n
Paul di Resta is the ninth driver to receive a reprimand this season. He joins Charles Pic, Adrian Sutil, Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen, Mark Webber, Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton, Jules Bianchi, and Nico Rosberg.
