Dietrich Mateschitz, one of the founders of Red Bull, does not mince his words in an interview given to the newspaper Kurier<\/i>. He particularly addressed the issue of the flow meters: \u00ab The fact is that the flow meters have provided inaccurate readings since the beginning of winter testing. \u00bb For him, Red Bull is within its rights and will prove it, he states: \u00ab We can prove that we were within the regulatory limits. \u00bb<\/p>\n
He also spoke about Red Bull’s presence in Formula 1. He warns that the Austrian team does not have an indefinite contract with the top category of motorsport: \u00ab The question is not so much whether it makes economic sense, but rather on a sporting level, regarding political influence, that sort of thing… On these matters, from our perspective, there is clearly a limit to what we can accept. \u00bb<\/p>\n
For him, F1 is no longer what it was nor what it should be: \u00ab Formula 1 should return to what it has always been: the ultimate discipline. It is not there to set new fuel consumption records or for people to whisper during a race where the greatest sensation is the squeal of the tires.<\/p>\n
I find it just as absurd to go a second slower than last year as GP2 cars being almost as fast as F1 cars with a fraction of the budget.<\/p>\n
However, Red Bull is there and has not given up on the quest for the title. Indeed, Dietrich Mateschitz is optimistic about the return of the Austrian team to the forefront: \u00ab We are working 24 hours a day with our partner Renault and we will take a big step in the next two or three weeks.
