While he was racing, the Frenchman had to retire due to an exhaust problem on his Toro Rosso: \u00ab The race was going well, the pace was really encouraging, I was saving my tires, and the strategy seemed to be right. Then, my engineer informed me of the drive-through penalty for being released in a dangerous manner, and eventually, we had an exhaust problem that ended my race. It’s really a shame! \u00bb<\/p>\n
But Vergne remains optimistic and is resolutely focused on the next race in Canada: \u00ab But let’s turn the page now and concentrate on the next race in Montreal, where I will once again do everything to be at my best, achieve another great qualifying session, and hope to score points. \u00bb<\/p>\n

While he was in the points, the Russian also suffered from an exhaust problem forcing him to retire: It’s disappointing to have had to retire today, especially because we seemed competitive all weekend and we had a good chance of finishing in the points here. I was able to maintain my position at the start and even climb to 8th place before having to retire.
