After a complicated start to the season with the Renault-badged V6, things are improving for the diamond brand and for Red Bull in particular. The Red Bull team director discusses with ESPN the situation linking the Austrian team with Renault while evaluating his team: \u00ab We have all the cards from Renault. We are making progress, Total is making progress with their fuel, currently with the data we have, we have similar data to what we should have in January. There’s a long way to go, Mercedes is far ahead. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Currently, we are only at the 6th race of the season, the championship is still long. We are clearly the second fastest team on the grid, and we are trying to close the gap with Mercedes. To completely bridge this gap, only commitment, hard work, and intelligent design will address these shortcomings, adds Horner.<\/p>\n

Horner has few illusions for the next event which will take place in Montreal, however, he reflects on the Monaco GP where he expresses his satisfaction: Montreal is going to be a tough race, it will be interesting to see how we fare. Renault is working hard behind the scenes; it’s the first time this season that we were close to the Mercedes. Daniel had a very high pace in the last third of the race, it was the fastest car on the track. I think we’re gaining confidence, but we can go from one extreme to another. Unlike Monaco, the Montreal GP is a circuit with many straights. It will be interesting to see how we perform against teams like Mercedes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
