The Canadian Grand Prix will be on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar for ten more years, following the agreement reached with Bernie Ecclestone, the head of FOM, which holds the commercial rights to F1. This new contract also includes a renovation of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, particularly concerning the paddock.<\/p>\n
\u00ab If we were able to announce this agreement, it’s because we have the full support of the people. As for Ecclestone and ourselves, everything is fine. Because it’s taxpayers’ money going through the political process, but for us it’s a formality, \u00bb Denis Coderre, the mayor of Montreal, told reporters on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The renovations estimated at approximately 30 million dollars will be paid by the city of Montreal, the Canadian government, and the state of Quebec will also contribute to this new 10-year contract.<\/p>\n
