Three and a half years ago, Robert Kubica injured his right hand, which was severed in a rally accident on the eve of the 2011 F1 season. This accident limited the movement of his arm and fingers, making driving a single-seater very complicated. But a year and a half after his accident, the Pole was back competing in rallying.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, Kubica raced in rally in 2013 and 2014, even clinching the WRC2 title in 2013, but he doesn’t know what he’ll do in 2015 and would love to be in F1, as he told BBC Sport: \u00ab Once the season is over, I will look at everything. It would be a dream to return to F1. \u00bb<\/p>\n
On a BMW Sauber, Robert Kubica won the Canadian Grand Prix in 2008, and he was considered by many experts as one of the best drivers in the discipline at the time of his accident. Last season, the former Renault F1 Team driver admitted it would be practically impossible to return to Formula 1, but he competed at the highest level in rallying. This 2014 season, the Polish driver is driving an M-Sport with a Ford-Fiesta chassis, where his best result has been a 6th place.<\/p>\n
The Polish driver spoke about his health status, where he believes that if he can improve his injured hand, he could return to F1. He remains convinced that a return to F1 is possible: \u00ab The arm and hand are OK. From a mobility standpoint, there have been some improvements. From the standpoint of my limits, it’s roughly the same. Therefore, I need to have more surgeries – and there are possibilities – but it’s a tight season, there are many rallies and there are long appointments. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Robert Kubica began his F1 career with BMW Sauber where his best finish was 4th place during the 2008 season. He continued his career with the Renault F1 Team for one season, where he finished 8th in the drivers’ championship.<\/p>\n
Formula 1 is not his only option since Robert Kubica could arrive in DTM, in the German touring car championship: \u00ab Formula 1 would be a dream, but we have to remain realistic.
