The track for the Monaco ePrix, which will take place on Saturday, May 9th, has been unveiled this weekend on the official website of the Formula E championship – the first 100% electric single-seater championship. As previously announced, the circuit incorporates a part of the F1 track but not in its entirety.<\/p>\n

The 1.76 km track features 12 turns and will use the same start and finish line as Formula 1, as well as the same pit lane. However, the track is still subject to FIA approval and certification.<\/p>\n

Jarno Trulli, current owner of the eponymous Formula E team, driver for his team, and winner in Monaco in Formula 1 – in 2004 with the Renault F1 team, believes that the chosen track layout will provide a great spectacle on the track and present challenges for the drivers.<\/p>\n

I think it’s a relatively good layout and obviously the place is fantastic. It includes half of the Formula 1 circuit, which is enough for a Formula E car, and I’m sure it will be good for overtaking. You can see that at the first corner there’s a hairpin, then we head towards the tunnel with a big braking zone which will also be a place to overtake. Then, you head towards the Tabac and Swimming Pool corners, which are exciting in Formula 1. In Formula E, they will be slightly easier but still a challenge, particularly the exit of the Swimming Pool which will be a bit slippery, the Italian said.<\/p>\n
