The International Automobile Federation (FIA) is therefore seeking new candidates to increase the number of cars on the starting grids of the Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Interested candidates must formally respond to the FIA by June 30, after which they will be evaluated based on various criteria (non-exhaustive as specified by the FIA):<\/p>\n<p>(a) the technical capacity and resources of the team<\/p>\n<p>b) the team&#8217;s ability to raise and maintain sufficient funding to participate in the championship at a competitive level<\/p>\n<p>c) the team&#8217;s experience and its members<\/p>\n<p>d) the FIA&#8217;s assessment of the value that the candidate can bring to the championship as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA also specifies in its statement that the long-term interests of the championship will determine which candidate will be selected.<\/p>\n<p>Declared candidates must then submit their applications by September 1, 2015, for a decision by September 30, 2015, although this schedule may still change.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA statement also explains that this process could result in no candidates being selected: \u00ab In the event that no candidate is deemed suitable by the FIA and the commercial rights holder, no additional team will be selected. \u00bb<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FIA has decided to open a selection process to add a new team to the Formula 1 World Championship starting in 2016 or 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":32,"featured_media":39197,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,1749],"tags":[370],"class_list":["post-13324","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-f1","category-news","tag-fia"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
