Thus, Guy Lovett, the technical manager from Shell dedicated to the Scuderia, explains the impact of this change: \u00ab Even if the regulations around fuel have remained stable compared to previous years, the new engine configuration, fuel flow, and consumption rules introduced in 2014 have presented a real challenge. Throughout the past year, we have worked closely with Scuderia Ferrari to develop an optimized fuel-engine package. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Shell, which is Ferrari’s historical partner in this field, is on its third version for hybrid engines, after the one from early 2014 and the one in Singapore. Indeed, the two partners have now completed the learning phase and have moved on to the pursuit of ultimate performance: \u00ab Now, we are leveraging this understanding, allowing us to make significant performance progress this year. \u00bb<\/p>\n
The new fuel provided by the Anglo-Dutch company has contributed to the 30 horsepower that Ferrari gained with its recent engine upgrade. Mattia Binotto, the head of Ferrari’s engine operations, could therefore be pleased with the improvements made: “We are happy with the progress we have made with the engine this year. We have to acknowledge that last year was not the best for Scuderia Ferrari but we worked hard over the winter, including with Shell, to make significant progress. I think we still have a way to go but this new fuel is a good indication of the steps we are taking in the engine division.”<\/p>\n
