There is now therefore no longer any link between the Wolff family and Williams. In fact, a few months after Susie Wolff announced her departure, it is now Toto Wolff who has sold the 5% of the shares he still held in the Grove team.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, it is not without a certain emotion that the now director of Mercedes leaves the team of which he held up to 15%: “I am surprised to be so moved today, to sever the final business ties with Sir Frank and the team at Williams. After initially joining the team with a purely financial perspective, I found myself much more involved in helping to restructure this great independent Formula 1 team.”<\/p>\n
When he joined Mercedes, it was no longer possible to be a shareholder in a team that was both a competitor and a customer of the firm’s engine. A gradual divestment plan was therefore put in place, so as not to destabilize a team that is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange: “The plan to sell my shares was a long-term one for which I reached an agreement with Daimler in 2013. But it was still important to find the right investor, someone who came for the right reasons. Brad is that person: he is a serious businessman with the right long-term perspective for Williams and Formula 1, and he has a real passion for motor racing.”<\/p>\n
Now that the succession plan is complete, Frank Williams holds 52% of the shares, ahead of Brad Hollinger (15%), Patrick Head (9.3%), the team’s employees (4%), not to forget the 20% that are listed on the Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
