To justify their decision, the jury relied on the confusion between the driver and the team regarding the choice of entering the pits or not. According to the stewards, the error was simply not deliberate and therefore not penalizing. Furthermore, the action was carried out under a safety car regime, which would also exonerate the Mercedes team and its driver, who did not cause any danger to other competitors.<\/p>\n
The Briton therefore keeps his victory, the fourth of his season, after successes in Azerbaijan, Spain, and France. Lewis Hamilton indeed regains the lead of the championship after surrendering it due to his retirement in Austria.<\/p>\n
