Rather effective this morning for the last free practice session, Pierre Gasly and his team decided to adjust the settings of the Frenchman’s car just before qualifying.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for number 10, these adjustments caused him to lose grip and pace: We were performing well in FP3 with the 6th fastest time, I had a good feeling with the car but we decided to make changes for qualifying and it made my life more complicated. I lost a lot of grip and pace so we’ll have to analyze all this tonight to understand what happened.<\/p>\n
Forced to set his best time in Q2 with Soft tires unlike his direct competitors who were all on Mediums, Gasly, in addition to failing to reach the Top 6, made the race more challenging for himself with a different strategy compared to the competition: \u00ab We chose to do our lap with the Softs because we thought it would be too difficult to get into Q3 with the Mediums. But obviously, for the race, it will be very tricky in the first stint. \u00bb<\/p>\n
A bold strategy awaits the Frenchman in the race tomorrow: \u00ab It’s still too early to know what we are going to do. We already know that tomorrow will be a very hot day and it won’t be easy with the Soft tires, but we will find a way to make them work well. I didn’t think we would start the race with Softs, but now we have to come up with something in terms of strategy. \u00bb concluded the Rouen native, inevitably disappointed.<\/p>\n
