The current world championship leader regained his confidence at the wheel of his McLaren as he closed in on the walls. Pierre Gasly set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on the Jeddah city circuit. The French driver set a time of 1:29.239, just ahead of the McLaren of Lando Norris and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, with the top three just 70 thousandths of a second apart.
