After an encouraging Free Practice 3, despite the session being cut short by a spin for Jaime Alguersuari, Toro Rosso was unable to replicate its morning performance in qualifying, with Sebastien Buemi having to settle for 16th place, just ahead of his teammate who will have an extra set of new tires for the race.

The Team Lotus had a fairly calm day, apart from a DRS issue affecting Jarno Trulli's T128, and even built some suspense in Q1 as Heikki Kovalainen was only half a second behind Rubens Barrichello's Williams. The Malaysian team hopes to join the fight tomorrow and is eagerly awaiting the updates announced for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel secured a fourth consecutive pole position in the 2011 season. The German driver set the fastest time effortlessly. The Red Bull team also placed Webber on the front row.
